My answer to first part of your question is "yes".
I believe that being optimist = unrealistic and being pessimist = realistic, so I almost look at dark side of things and it makes things to me harder than they really are. being always stressed out for future and so. but this bad habit has been benifitial, and I don't regret it.
and to answer the second part of your question, yeah, maybe I'm the worst enemy of myself, but the wisest worst enemy, and you know that a wise enemy is too much better than an ignorent friend!
Sorry for my English

Sometimes. It takes me a while to forgive myself when I screw something up, and in another sense, I have a hard time allowing myself to rest when I am sick- I will try to do everything that I normally do when I am perfectly healthy- go to work, go to the gym, take care of household chores. Bad habit that I can't stop.

don't we all.
for those that answered no, denial is not just a river in egypt.
i believe every time i feel stressed in the course of my fairly safe, and mundane life, i'm making it hard on myself. in absence of being shot at, stabbed, or blow up, stress is really self induced. most of the time my stress is related to a lack of preparation.
i suspect that if you do not suffer from stress you live in a plastic bubble or you are in a coma.
