Soft snoring is normal, but I'm afraid it sounds like you have the kind that is definitely not normal.
If your snoring is really loud and disruptive, chances are good that you have a condition called sleep apnea, which MUST be taken seriously. Untreated sleep apnea not only stresses both the snorer and everyone else in the house who can't get a good night's sleep, it can also lead to heart malfunction and death! If you have this condition, the nasal strips and all the folk remedies (like a tennis ball in the back of your pjs) will not help.
Apnea is easily treated with the use of a night-breathing aid called a CPAP. You must see a sleep doctor before you can get one, as they have to be individually adjusted, but most insurance covers the cost. CPAP eliminates snoring 100% and keeps your heart from being damaged. Surgery is very rarely used to treat apnea in adults, as the success rate is not that good.
Please ask your doctor to refer you to a sleep doctor or sleep clinic ASAP. These facilities often have a long waiting list, and procrastinating can really damage your health. Do it today.

Snoring can often be a by-product of sleep apnea, a condition involving airway passage issues and how you breathe when you sleep.
It can have serious consequences as it may affect the oxygen in your blood and increase red blood cell count to an undesirable level. If you wake up tired or are often fatigued during the day, it would be a good bet to check it out.
This can be done by going to a sleep study center, and having a legitimate licensed PSG (polysomnogram) which can diagnose sleep apnea and other possible problem conditions. If snoring is a medical/physical problem, a PSG will surface that issue, and there are many treatments that will improve the condition once diagnosed.

It could be due to a variety of things. It could be due to an obstruction in the nasal passageway, muscle tension of the jaw, severe allergies, fat around the throat, weakness of the throat, or it could be due to sleep apnea. For sleep apnea, I would have someone observe you as you sleep. If they observe that you stop breathing or have irregular breathing, I would schedule a sleep test with your doctor. At any rate, what you could do, is see if you need a breathing machine which pushes air into your passageway. My best advice is to consult your doctor. Many individuals might see it as not a serious issue, but it could very well be. I hope this helps.
Sincerely, Jade

yes, it's definitely normal...however it is annoying to others, but what most of them don't realize is that they snore too..haha Anyway, it could be caused from being overweight, or it could be hereditary, or you might have asthma or breathing problems,or even it could be caused by stress. Try some "breathe-right" nose strips. Snoring does get worse over time and as you get older things inside you get a tad flabby and make noise when you breathe. You can have a minor operation to stop that, but that adjustment over time could need tightened too.
Try those things. One of them has to work. Or, move out and be by yourself and get all the sleep you want and need.

Two of my children had problems when young with snoring. I took them to a nose and throat Dr. and he told they had enlarged adenoids and tonsils, leading to sleep apnoea. They had to have surgery and have tonsils and adenoids removed. That helped, plus when you have sleep apnoea it is not healthy, it may cause for heart problems, because your body is not fully asleep. Then your days, you are constantly tired due to not a proper sleep. When you have sleep apnoea it can cause serious heart problems (heart attacks due to enlarge heart because it works double time). Your body is not fully rested because your are not deep sleep with that sleeping disorder. I suggest to check your self out. You may need surgery or just a simple breathing device that you put on before going to sleep (helps you breathe, and allows you to have proper rest). I am not concerned so much about the other person, it is your health that is more of a concern. Check it out.

your nasal passage is probably blocked or you may be allergic to something. The best thing to do is to go get a checkup by your doctor.

Who cares? As long as you sleep well thats all that counts. How often do you need to sleep with a group of people.
