I was supposed to start my period today, but I didn't. It's not unusual for me to start my period 1 or 2 days late, so no worries there.
The thing is I'm planning on going to a pool party tomorrow. Since my period hasn't started, I can't start using tampons - it hurts like hell to take out when there's no blood. But of course I don't want my period to start while I'm in the pool (I don't know if it'll start tomorrow or the day after that).
Is there any other option i have? Or do I just have to stay out of the water tomorrow?

I know i'll be able to insert the tampon using lubricant, but taking it out is unbearable without lubrication. And i can't really use a lubricant when taking it out. It's not physically possible...

Take tampons and a pad with you .. use the pad... remove it before you go swimming.... use a tampon only if you have to but while you are in the cold water they are unlikely to come on anyway. When out of the water just sneak off and put the pad back on.... wear a nice short sarong.... Problem solved... well that's a man's perspective anyway....

The only thing you can do right now is to stay out of the water and apply a pad to your panties for the next couple days (or better yet pantyliners) as a way to help you keep an eye for when your period is coming.

Unless you gush blood immediately after you start, this shouldn't be a huge problem. Bring a tampon with you, check on yourself occasionally. And don't wear tampons unless you're bleeding. It's not good for you.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I were you I would bring both a pad and tampon and stay out of the water for a while and if it starts put the tampon in.
