My boyfriend did an internship with one of the big 4 accounting/audting firms and has worked there for almost a year. He is great at what he does and gets picked up for lots of jobs, but unfortunately, he works avg 80 or more hours a week. He says he just has to pay his dues the first 2 or 3 years. Is this true or are the hours always crazy? Thanks bunches!

I've worked in 2 of the big 4 audit firms and generally I'd say it's true. It's especially true if you're assigned to audit listed companies with tight filing deadlines. If the portfolio of companies assigned to you all have the same deadlines, you can say goodbye to any social life. Like your bf says, you have to pay your dues. We work hard and those of us who can make it are proud of ourselves. Those who can't take it quit. Simple as that. During the peak periods, working to 3am is not uncommon. So pls bear with him and give him lots of moral support. He's not lying!
