all depends on your metropolitan area as to which one will provide the best coverage for you. go to the websites of Cingular, Verizon and Sprint they all have coverage maps

First two are same edge is enhanced gprs, with wider bandwidth than gprs.

cdma is better than gprs & edge but telephone provider can restrict bandwidth as per market requirement.

best is 3G or wifi.They are true broadband.
