Definitely not a term pregnancy is 37 weeks onwards-these babies often have problems with temperature regulation, blood sugar control and being able to suck each feed. They can also have immature lungs requiring oxygen in a humidicrib and jaundice requiring treatment. The weight is irrelevant there behaviour is the key as to when they will be ready to leave hospital.

I am in my 33rd week. The baby is already fully formed, now it is the fine tuning period. The baby will double the weight, and the lungs are still developing. My dr. told me that if my baby was born now he would have a good chance of survival with a little care. I would say that you are not full term until the 37th week, as that is what my dr. told me. I will be delivering per c-section in my 37th. Good luck, I hope the time flies by for you, because I know what I am feeling like now...I am more than ready to have my baby!

From a medical stand-point, they consider full-term to be 37 weeks or more.

Not really - there is still some growing to do, I think in terms of lung capacity and stuff like that.
My daughter was born at 36 weeks and we were in hospital for a week - nothing serious, just her breathing wasn't quite right.

The "normal" gestational period for a fullterm birth is 32 to 40 weeks. Anytime during that timeframe is FULL TERM.
