I really like Tarantino. He has taken aspects of film culture and brought them into the current generation of film making. His stuff really is ingenius. The combined use of imagery and sound are incredible. If you really pay attention to the music in some scenes, it is either very fitting or very ironic. Plus, the little things make the movie great. (In Kill Bill Volume 1, for instance, after the fight scene in the Green houshold (where the little girl comes home from school) the two women are in the kitchen chatting......of course Kiddo's advesary has a gun hidden in a box of cereal. The name of the cereal, in big, bold, cartoony letters? KABOOM! Now that is genius ;) )

I could cite dozens of examples. The western style music at the end of Kill Bill 1.....where O-Ren Ishi and Kiddo are about to fight (with the lever-action well water thingy....perfect touch)

The briefcase in Pulp Fiction....what was in it? Who knows.....and who cares. That is the most important briefcase in movie history, thanks to wonderful direction by Tarantino.

Jackie Brown, Resivoir Dogs, both great flicks......I just really like Tarantino's work ESPECIALLY his attention to detail.

For the most part, his films are all character driven. The plot kind of takes a backseat to the characters. He just lets his actors and his quirky dialogue drive the film on its own. Plus, I know some serious film buffs hate how he pays "homage" to the films that he loves, but to me, that's only showing how passionate he is for his love of films, in general--particularly those from the 70's, because its influence is heavily used in all of his films.

Turns out I only liked the ones he co-wrote with Roger Avary. Coincidence? Aparently, I like Roger Avary's scripts.

I do like QT as an actor though, a la From Dusk Til Dawn. I cried.

Beacause they are witty, interesting and always have the best twists. Oh and I think Tarantino is pretty hot, I mean his mind is pretty hot.

They're okay. I thought Kill Bill was decent but frankly I don't see the appeal. Loads and loads of fake looking blood, gruesome sexual and murderous acts, and throw in a bit of cheeky humor among the carnage. They're not my cup of tea.

I don't think he will ever be considered an "important" filmmaker. Influencial, though, yes. And entertaining. And he just knows what works and what doesn't. And is naturally highly talented.
