Like, how come they don't pay the celebrities because they're getting money from their pictures.

I've always wondered how are paparazzi pictures legal.

If they are in a public place they are fair game its something to do with freedom of speech.Anyone can take a photo and sell it so long as they are out in public.

They are working generally for a "newspaper" or freelance reporting, which allows them to photograph any newsworthy item, or non-newsworthy as the case may be. They are protected in this country under the Constitution!

cantcu is incorrect. if paparazzi or any newspaper employees took your picture and sold it, you can sue them. however, images of 'celebrities' are saleable.
