It hurts a little bit, nothing to pass out over. I have had several blood draws and a lot depends on the phlebotomist. Some are so smooth and gentle and others just ram home the point. I have found that if I take deep breaths hold them a bit then exhale and tell myself to be calm I get through it with no problems.
Once a little boy was waiting to have blood drawn and he was scared. He asked me what I was doing when I had my eyes closed. I told him I was telling my arm cells to get out of the way of the needle. He asked if that helped. I said, "Mostly, yes, but sometimes a couple of them wouldn't pay attention and it would hurt a little bit."
I saw the parents later in the hospital cafeteria and they laughed and said my advice worked.

I have an 11 year old who has been getting her bloods done from the age of seven and never complains. but a guy I used to date complained three days before and three days after. But trust me it does not hurt. Most people who take bloods at clinics are used to it and know how to find the easily so it is painless.
Don't worry it is simple be thankful it is not childbirth.....lmao

I have non existent veins on both arms, so they have to draw blood from my right hand. It doesn't hurt a bit. In fact, I sort of enjoy it. I like watching the needle slide into my vein. But the most painful shots (to me anyway) are shots in the behind. But I'm perfectly comfortable with the whole thing.

its true some people are better than others when it comes to taking blood, but now they do it differently, they used to take it with syringe, now they do it with a very fine needle, very fine indeed, attached to a little collar thing-sorry i am not medically technical at all, but had bloods done! you dont feel it going in, they then attach the little bottles, for each test and it obviously works on some kind of valve, blood goes in the bottle. voila. the worst thing about having bloods? the sorest bit-honestly? taking the damn sticky plaster off they put on once they.re done!! Good luck

Come on , be brave !
For goodness sake, it's a pin prick we are talking about here & is over in a split sec!
I'm a regular plasma donor , have been for years , & that hurts a little more because of the heavier guage needle .
You have absolutely nothing to be concerned about ....go do it !

I actually like getting blood drawn. I even like to watch. Does it hurt? Nah. It feels worse the bigger the needle is, like and IV or the ones they use for donating blood or plasma, and those are in there a long time...

It hurts worse if you look at it as strange as that might sound. Feels like a pinch with nails (fingernails not wall nails) for a second and then doesn't really hurt that bad. Unless they miss the vein. Then it's stingy.
