are the power supplies for pcs all the same? or do i need some type of power supply?

oh, and where would i be able to find a 500 W or more pc power supply for less than 50 USD?

Just look at the Form Factor (ATX, BTX, etc) and the Watts. The form factor will help you to determine if it will fit your computer case. The watts is, of course, the watts. I still recommend the component power supplies if cable cluttering is an issue.

You will want a dedicated 12V rail for every high-end video card that you will have on your motherboard. Make sure you meet at least the minimum Watts for your video card(s).

You can find cheap ones everywhere (NewEgg, TigerDirect, local computer shops, etc).

Yes the ATX power supplies...the new ones are the same. You must have a big conector and a small one with 4 wires. And i recomend you to get 600 W :D

Retail ATX power supplies are 150mm wide. Measure your current power supplies width to ensure mounting compatibility w/ retail power supplies.
