Dunn has an expiring contract and the Reds won't be able to re-sign him, so they want something for him in return. The Angels have a lot of prospects and they could use a lefty power bat to replace Garrett Anderson, who is bad now. Griffey Jr might stay though.
As for the guy who thinks the last good Reds team was in the '20s, how about the Big Red Machine in the '70s. Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Pete Rose, Ken Griffey Sr?

Ken Griffey has admitted that he would accept a trade to a contending ball club. Dunn on the other hand, is a potential power hitter (even though he hasn't lived up to expectations) and they are always coveted at the trade deadline. Many contending teams will over-pay for players that can get them to the playoffs and possibly the World Series. I think the Reds would be smart to trade both for young pitching prospects and also bring up power-hitting Jeremy Gil from the minor leagues. Both the Angels (RHP Nick Adenhart) and the Brewers (RHP Yovani Gallardo) have excellent young prospects which may be sought.

Griffey has 10/5 veto rights, so he's only going somewhere if he wants to. However, given the chance to bolt the Queen City, it's easy to imagine he would accept a deal to the right team.

And he's 38 in November -- the notion of "rebuilding" a team around such a baseball graybeard is ridiculous. Even one of his talent (when healthy) is no more than a key filler roleplayer, not a centerpiece.

They are gone.
Dunn will not be in the NL, I'd say to the Angels for Nick Adenhart (P) and Brandon Wood (SS).

Griffey to the Cubs for Cesar Izturis (because of the contract), Brian Dopriak (1B), and Mark Pawalek (P).

in case you prefer to construct a triumphing group from the floor up, the 1st element you do is shrink some payroll, age, and individuals conscious of dropping. it is what you get consequently. Sorry, yet this Griffey isn't the Griffey of yesteryear.

Where to start? They could use some outfielders to replace them and of course some pitching....perferably relievers as their bullpen is pretty poor.
