Vampire novels are usually woven in with romance. I wouldn't worry about it though, virtually all novels have a romantic interest somewhere in them.

I would try Anne Rice. She really is a very talented author. She definately cornered the vampire market. No one else even comes close for that style of reading.

If you like treasure/sea based fiction.....Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt books are fun to read. http://www.numa.net/clive_cussler.html

Also, you might like Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They wrote several books together and both have solo books. Tend to be adventure/ancient powers/treasure type books. Kinda like fun horror adventure. http://www.prestonchild.com/books/index.html?fCMS=ef5703c032361b70bfb30679e6f99e1a
