It would be impossible to name something of value, unless one could simultaneously name something of NO value - and THAT my friend is IMPOSSIBLE. ... Hence, either Everything is of some relative value (as compared, by the appraiser, to something else) or Nothing is. That is, with the obvious and trivial exception of Nothing itself; and even then Nothing(ness) has always served as the mirror in which we hold/examine Being. ... Great Question. :-)

Basuto proverb:
"If a man does away with his traditional way of living and throws away his good customs, he had better first make certain that he has SOMETHING OF VALUE to replace them."*

"From the time of his discharge from the Navy at the end of World War II, until his death in 1965, Robert Chester Ruark was, arguably, the most prolific and MOST POPULAR WRITER in the country.

"He was living in a villa in Spain he had purchased in the mid 1950's, and kept up his feverish writing pace, but the end was near. Ruark was going to die if he didn't stop drinking, and he couldn't STOP DRINKING, it was as simple as that. His health continued to deteriorate, and in late June of 1965, he was flown to London, where he was hospitalized. There, on July 1, his liver, after decades of abuse failed and Robert Ruark DIED of a massive internal hemorrhage."

Inspired by a life that was and a talent that was killed before its time, I answer you:

SELF-LOVE
SELF-RESPECT
SOBRIETY

Honesty is valuable, and Billy said it so well:

"I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.
I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me
with promises again.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you".

Everything here is worth something and nothing here is free...Although we do have lay-away plans and offer credit in return for your first born, maybe even a bonus for a mutant if the circus is in town.

mmm....the circus. O.K. you talked me into it. I'll give you my first mutant child if you can get me a life time pass to the sideshow with free cotton candy.
