That's my motherboard. Are they compatable?

What would happen if I put the chip in and it isn't compatable. And then hit the power?

It will accept that chip. For those who don't know, that is not a Pentium D. It is basically a Core 2 Duo, but it has less cache and only an 800Mhz FSB, hence it is given a different name.

Now while it will accept that chip, I seriously hope you haven't bought that motherboard yet. The motherboard is not a part you want to buy a cheap and low quality one, and that is definately cheap. Look for something made by Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, or Intel, and something with either an Intel, nVidia, or ATI chipset.

The manufacturer website does not list Core2 Duo for this model

Refer to this page for MB that support socket 775 processors. Many support Core 2 Duo.

It's not Pentium D or Core 2 Duo. This may sound stupid, but I've never heard of that line before. Intel Dual-Core?

Yes, it is just a Pentium D. The mainboard says it is compatible. But C2D's are so much more worth it anyway.

Yeah, there should be no problems there.
