or should I boil it at all? if I do - how long? and what should I do after I boiled the water? will it really kill all of the bacteria in the water? I am pretty apprehensive about drinking it -- even if it is boiled.

Most of the boil water advisories suggest that if you boil water, you need to get it to the point where it is vigorously boiling (maximum of bubbling) then you only need to boil it for a minute from that point.

If you are doubting drinking it, yeah, boil. If you are new to the area, you might not be yet accustomed to local Bacterias that locals are immune to. So boiling could help.

The person who said dont worry about it is nuts! I travel all the time and ALWAYS only drink bottled water as it is the only way to be sure you wont get ill.
