I had heard that in one of the twin towers in New York, there was a man who was wheelchairbound. There was no way for him to escape the building that had already been hit, and would eventually collapse.
Another man, trying to escape, saw the wheelchairbound man, and stopped, and who knows why he did it, rather than continue running to save himself, stayed behind with that man. The phones were out, so he took out his cell phone and called the wheelchair bound man's family for him, to let him talk for a little while before...
He stayed by that poor man's side to the very end. They both died.
If I were in the situation you described, I would try and save that friend or acquaintance, or if I couldn't, I couldn't just leave him or her there.
I'd stay. I'd have to. Who else will?
It's like those hospitals in New Orleans when Katrina hit. The staff fled, they ran for their own lives, and there were sick and elderly patients who were left to die, and they did die.
I cried when I heard that, thinking of the poor folk, left alone, without hope, without at least someone to hold their hands and say, you're not alone, I'm with you, don't be afraid.

Yes I would, a really good friend or acquaintance and if they were family I would too, if they were injured badly and if there were no hospitals I would try and help that person as best i could and do what I could to save that person no matter how much they slowed me down or held me up! Yes I would!!!

I would think my first instinct would be to take him, but I have never been in that situation, with that said, I think that instinctively when there is a devastation we go into survival mode. So I think I would leave the person behind if I felt it was going to hinder our chances of survival. It really does depend on the circumstances.
If I was the hurt friend I not want anyone to stay behind or risk thier lives for me. I would want them to save themselves.

I would try to work on my friend myself if I could. If not i would drag them along. Haven't you seen that army movie where they made the splinter and pulley from leaves...or was that an episode of Lost?

Drag them along. Once you get through this horrible episode, you will live with what you did for the rest of your life. on one gets left behind.

really depends on the situation
personally, I would never leave someone unless forced to. I would not be able to live knowing that someone died because of my selfishness.
But if someone was inevitably going to die very soon, and staying with them would put me in a sure danger, I would be able to make the decision to leave them.

If there was someone I was with, I would drag them along. He, of corse, can't die anyway, so that's not a problem...
