Does Kafka's fantasy of punishment fit into Dante's or the other way around?

An important distinction is that Kafka's punishment is imposed by society (I assume you are referring to "The Penal Colony") while Dante's is imposed by a supernatural force.

I think for Kafka, hell is here on Earth - and I'm inclined to agree. Thankfully so is heaven.
