Pull out the spark plug and check the color. If it looks black then you are fouling plugs. The YZ doesn't use a power valve like many of the other 85's so you have to keep it in the higher RPM range for it to perform correctly. If your plug is black have it re-jetted to better suit your riding ability and try not to ride the bike at low RPM's. This is the main reason I don't recommend the YZ or CR 85's for beginners.

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
The year of the bike could make a difference.
Clean the air cleaner.
When was the last time the top end was rebuilt? (cylinder, piston & rings).
The top end may need to be rebuilt (especially if it hasn't been done in a couple of years).
To check if it needs repair -
Remove the exhaust pipe and look in the exhaust port with a flash light and mirror.
If you see any scoring of the piston and cylinder wall, or discoloration below the rings, the top end will have to be repaired.

Ok first off before u start spending money. Check the spark plug, carb, air filter, and ur gas and two stroke mix. if they are all fine you will have to take ur bike apart and get a new piston and rings while doing this make sure ur cyclinder is not scratched or scraps in it, if so u will have to get a new one of them and u will have to let a bike shop do that part. but if not get a new piston and rings and put them in ur bike and make sure ur rings r set the right way and do not move while putting ur bike back together. if they move ur bike will screw up again. this right here should answer ur question.

change the spark plug first.... sometimes a two-stroker will foul the plug a make it bog, if its not the problem, at least its the cheapest place to start. try to find an "ngk" brand plug. ive always had better luck with them in a two-stroker.
