I use the All Small & Mighty with Snuggle. It makes my clothes smell good and I don't have to worry about a separate fabric softener.

When I was working as a baby health nurse we advised Mum's to use a cup of vinegar in final rinse water to soften towelling nappies-cheap,convenient and doesnt clog up anything

I don't use liquid softner... I use baking soda and just add it to the wash water.. It's super cheap... 12 lb. bag for under $5 and I use it all over the house... (freshen carpets/furniture, inside diaper genie..I add a touch to my shampoo once a week to get rid of buildup.. Freshen fridge/freezer) Liquid softener you can make your own febreeze just dilute with water...
