Even if you believe in ghosts, which I do not, she died peacefully, so you should have nothing to worry about.

However, if you haven't made an offer, try to use this to get the price down, as others may also be leary.

Keep in mind that people need to die someplace, and none of us want to die in a nursing home. Someone will have cleaned up the place before you move in.

I can understand your hesitation. However, if you like the house otherwise, and it is a good fit for your budget, I wouldn't let the current *situation* keep you from making the purchase. I grew up in a house where the previous owner had died in the front yard (heart attack). My parents didn't tell me this until I was older, and I can honestly say it made no difference in my childhood whatsoever.

Also, if you think about it, there is a good change that someone has died in the majority of American homes...especially if the house is historic (aka old). Back then, it wasn't uncommon for people to die in their bed, and it certainly didn't keep someone else from purchasing the house. It was just a fact of life (no pun intended).

Good luck!!!! :)

That's a matter of personal preference. I can only tell you that I bought a home in TX many years ago where the original owner's wife had died peacefully in the home. He had custom built it for her and she adored it. We bought it and could not have been happier with the home. If anything, her loving aura seemed to surround the house and welcome anyone there.

When I finally sold it last year, a young couple who were interested had asked if anyone had died in the home that I knew of. In TX, you have to answer that question truthfully and I told them what I wrote above. They made a full price offer on the place. I got a card from them a couple of months ago, about 1 year after the sale. They just wanted me to know that they felt her love in the home and couldn't be happier. On top of that, although they had struggled to pull the financing together, the husband got a job offer just after they closed at nearly double what he had been making and they had just re-financed at a lower rate and got rid of the PMI.

I miss that place!

The house is called a stigmatized. That is the word for a home that someone has died in.I have lived in homes where people have died, and I never noticed anything unusual in any of them.It is up to you though, not anyone else to tell you how you feel.

I would get inside the house check out all of the rooms, and spend some time in each one, if you dont get any bad feelings or vibes, then you are probably safe to buy it, without any hauntings. Only a person who didnt know how to go to heaven would stick around as a ghost. Hope that helps.!

Aren't you a little old to believe in ghosts?

Seriously, if you like the house otherwise, what does it matter?

You've likely been in plenty of buildings and homes where people have previously died. And you're still alive to ask questions like this.

Sure. I moved into my mother's home when she died. Most ghosts are friendly. Death is not bad. Somebody may have died in the spot where you are sitting. Do you feel strange?

If you really like the house, the fact that the lady died there should be of no concern (unless her body is still in there).

I would buy it. There may be some people that will take it off their list for that reason. We all have to die somewhere and not everyone dies in a car or hospital. Buy it. That lady will be happy you did.
