Why would it be a bad idea? If it's what you want to do, then do it! Your economics degree will come in handy so you can handle all of the money you're going to make!

The guy above me IS mistaken. A radiologist is a doctor - he's thinking of a radiologic technologist.

Just off the top of my head or off the shelve, I would say, return to college in your area and take the necessary major subject classes to qualify you for radiologist. You have already done the other qualifications.
In other words, you probably do not have to take the basic requirements over again. You just have to take the core classes for the new major. However, the school will evaluate your preparedness and tell you what you have to take.
Good luck, and It sound exciting!

To be a radiologist you will need a solid background in organic chemistry and biochemistry since these are the two TOUGHEST courses you must pass in first and second year.

You can take these two separate credits without enetering medical school and if you have these two credits you will find it much easier to be accepted into medical school as an undergraduate.

Following that RADIOLGY takes two more years.

If I'm not mistaken, a radiologist is a certification program, not a undergraduate degree.
I think you would need to take some pre-reqs before the actual radiology program but that's about it.
You might want to meet with a counselor and verify this.
