I will guess you mean "having gone too far together" [to fail?]
a. If you say "we have gone too far" to fail or to go back, that means you should take courage or give yourself credit for how far you have come so far and should not give up now.
b. If you mean if a couple "goes too far" that means they became too intimate too soon, and cannot handle the emotional or personal responsibility they ran into. The relationship could fail if they don't re-evaluate and work it out together to re-establish mutual bounds and balance first.
