Bill Clinton > February 17, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace, and we have to use force, our purpose is clear: We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
Bill Clinton > February 17, 1998
"We have to defend our future from these predators of the 21st Century.... They will be all the more lethal if we allow them to build arsenals of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. We simply cannot allow that to happen. There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein."

A lot of the things Bush is blamed for actually started with Clinton. Democrats have short term memory loss...scientists should really study this phenomenon.

I do remember what Clinton said. If you read the quotes you left, they speak of "Iraq's weapons of mass destruction PROGRAM" - not "Iraq's weapons of mass destruction."
Clinton believed that Hussein was working toward these goals, and the fact he is was. But Clinton also adopted a policy of containment and it was working. Bush got into Iraq and found it had been working. There's a number of reasons I don't really believe that Hussein spirited all his WMDs into Syria. But to name only one, he was a control freak, and turning all that material over to Syria, even for "safekeeping," would mean handing it to a country he could never be sure would return it without a fight.
We already know we were given bogus intel about how far along Hussein's nuclear program was. It's not hard to imagine that we had similar problems with the credibility of other WMD intelligence. Simply because Hussein refused to let the inspectors fully do their job doesn't mean he had something huge to hide. With Hussein, it simply could have been his ego and resentment that he could be monitored by the UN and the United States for any reason. He thought himself as sovereign and above all that. I doubt if we'll ever really know the truth.

No. Do you remember what Bush Jr said before the war?
"British intelligence has found strong evidence, suggesting that Iraq is attempting to purchase yellowcake (uranium) in Niger"
What Bush failed to mention was that the CIA told him that the document was a fraud.
edit: This questioner must not have received the memo that 0ver 90% the WMD was demolished by the inspectors and they suspected that the rest that was thought to be missing had been expended.

Bill Clinton knew that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction because he's the one who gave it to him and he's the one who gave Saddam the biological weapons that he used against his own people to gas them with.
He's also the one who gave Asama Bin Laddin the weapons and military know how that the extremists are now using against us in the war on terror.
And now his WIFE wants to be president and pick up where her darling husband left off before he was impeached.
What a world.

Bill Clinton also had a plan for Iraq. Bush doesn't have one. If you noticed, Bush never gave out a course outine for Iraq. Not one. That's why he's changed course so many times. Bush thinks it out, and when it doesn't work, he thinks of something else. Often, it results in hundreds of American deaths.
And we elected this man; twice.

Clinton didn't stage a 'terrorist' attack on American soil, kill 3000 people, and then try to connect that tragedy to Iraq, a sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States on 9-11-01. -RKO- 06/23/07

Unfortunately, people don't remember this. Bush actually COMPLETED Clinton's plans of "liberating" Iraq.
Clearly, the problem that Iraq has posed is NOT the fault of George W. Bush.
For all we know, Hussein may have mislead the CIA on purpose!
