From my contacts with friends in England, the AWI is a barely mentioned part of their history. Then again, when your history goes back over 1000 years, there are other things that are bigger and had more impact. As one person put it, dealing with the "Corsican Ogre." In several of the British regimental histories that I have, the AWI gets 2 small paragraphs and then it goes on to mention Gibralter for 10 pages. Another contact also put it in a rather unique way. He said," Ok, you won the war but who really won it all? We eventually recieved the benefit of full trade with the Americas and none of the responsibility of governing it." GOOD ANSWER.

Well, as a country no. Britain and America have become allies in wars following the Revolution. As individual people, its possible that some people feel resentment.

Because in american schools we were taught about it with a sense of "Ha Ha, we won". Its almost like a book where the underdog wins, and gets the girl in the end.

And we didn't LOSE-We simply walked away and let you get on with it.
And by the time we had finished dealing with the Spanish at Gibraltar we had an even more arrogant pompous tyrant to deal with (Namely ''The Corsican Ogre').
