It use to be cheaper, I have lived here 10 years and it is almost too expensive for myself and family. Rents 900-1800 depending on size. There are some real dangerous areas so be careful. Stay away from north town and downtown. Electricity is OUT OF THIS WORLD, my last power bill was 650.00 for 1 month, in a 2200sq ft home. For 4 months the temperature never goes below 100 - so you best like it hot, hot, hot. I cant wait to move, I'm going to Seattle, I need a break from the sun, and rain sounds wonderful!!

No and pick henderson.
I talked to the real estate lady today and looking at a house want to spend $275,000. She put in $300,000 in the computer says prices are in my favor right now.
Gas has come down. Milk ang eggs are increasing in price. A gallon of milk used to cost $2 now it is close to $3.
Cigs are $4 and that is cheap.
Dinners are real cheap at the casinos and clubs.
Beer and wine is cheaper here than most states.
Wages are low. And they do not celebrate the national holidays in this state for some reason.
But no it is affordable to live here. I can save money from my pay

No worse than anyplace else... housing is good, wages are fair, dining is fantastic. However, electric bills are obscene (and you use a LOT of electricity during the hot summers) and car insurance is through the roof.
All in all it works out.
