America is supposed to be the Government of the PEOPLE, not corporations..., that ought to be so... But, I don't think real profound change will come easily. Look at how hard it was for the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's, and that was100 years after Black people were already ensured freedom, but still didn't have it?
Look at how many movies Michael Moore has made, where almost every issue is stark blatantly obvious, but hardly a dent in the system.
Have we consensus that we need Health Care and to make Corporations pay their fair share, etc?.... This is a no-brainer, folks... MAYBE, but getting up and making sure they do so, won't be easy at ALL. We'll pay in blood....... Yes... Any ideas? All in favor?

I'm no fan of him as a person, Just like you, I think he's ugly and fat and weird. However I like him, really, but only because I do believe he speaks for what many of us have been trying to say for a long time, and he is willing to do his homework and get down and do the research.

Moore is from Flint, not LA, and actually no one can deny he has done what he can for his hometown, despite GM basically trashing it and leaving town after squeezing what they could out of it.

I used to teach High School, and trust me, the kids in High School today aren't any better educated than Kindergarteners. Graduating High School is no guarantee you'll find any job. Even getting through college to the Master's level is hardly a guarantee. So, it's best your nephew goes to the welfare office, and also best he go back to school if he can and actually learn a skill. He might know more than you think.

What;s the matter ? Does the truth hurt! We don't have an insurance in this country that is affordable! If I didn't live in Oregon, and did not have the Oregon Health Plan, I'd be screwed! I couldn't go to the doctor, or get my meds!
Michael Moore shows inconvenient truths, if you don't want to look, then don't complain about it to others that don't mind seeing or hearing the facts!
In Bowling for Columbine, he also told inconvenient truths! The same goes for Farenhiey 9/11, again some inconvenient truths and facts! Just because you don't like the information, does not make it any less true! I like Michael's appreciation for the truth as it is, and puts it in a format that I can see as well! Bury your head in the sand, and stay ignorant of what is really going on in the world!

The insurance industry needs to be totally removed from the health care equation.
Profit margins should not be a determining factor when it comes to health care
The corporations that own our media have put forth a tidal wave of misinformation and lies to protect the gigantic corporate welfare scam the insurance industry has turned our national health care system into.
"The United States continues to spend significantly more on health care than any country in the world. In 2002, Americans spent 53 percent per capita more than the next highest country, Switzerland, and 140 percent above the median industrialized country." John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
And even though we spend more than any other nation on health care 16% of Americans remain without any health insurance and the United States only ranks 37th globally in health care.
"The United States ranks 23rd in infant mortality, down from 12th in 1960 and 21st in 1990" Connecticut Coalition for
Universal Health Care
"The United States ranks between 50th and 100th in immunizations depending on the immunization. Overall US is 67th, right behind Botswana" Connecticut Coalition for
Universal Health Care
This corporate scheme has to stop. It's immoral and must be stopped

We need Single Payer Universal Health Care
"Single payer universal health care is not socialized medicine. It is health care payment system, not a health care delivery system. Health care providers would be in fee for service practice, and would not be employees of the government, which would be socialized medicine. Single payer health care is not socialized medicine, any more than the public funding of education is socialized education, or the public funding of the defense industry is socialized defense."

For the most part, the issues are, as you put it, "stark, blatantly obvious" - to anyone.
It is easy to point out the short comings and criticize - but the United States isn't the greatest nation on earth because of the Michael Moore's.
The issues he highlights are complex - but some of his simplistic solutions are simply off the chart. For instance, we need definite improvements in our health care system (which presently is the best in the world) but many experts don't believe a government controlled, national health care is the best solution. A particular concern may seem like it needs a "Profound change" - but often that's like using a chainsaw when only a surgeon's scalpo is needed.
For what it's worth, I find it somewhat difficult to take Michael Moore too seriously after the film "Fahrenheit 911" - the film (initially billed as a "documentary") was full of out of context quotes, unreliable sources and half-truths. It demonstrated his bias and far left agenda more than anything else.
He seems to have a problem with this country - I say "seems" because it's difficult to know if he is sincere at times or just raking in the dough from his followers.

Michael Moore is no more than a propagandist.
Look at 911, more lies than truth and largely admitted to by him. His credibility is shot with me. I wouldn't believe anything he had to say.
And as far as socialized medicine goes; if it is so great why can't people in Washington get into clinics? It is because the Canadians fill them up. Socialized medicine is mandatory in Canada. Private insurance is not legal. So who are the biggest criminals? The Doctors and Nurses are the criminals. They, better than anyone, know the status of the Canadian health system. A wait to see a specialist can be 18 weeks or more. Half of my family would be dead under their system. My Mother-in-Law recently had heart surgery in a matter of hours after diagnosis. She wouldn't have made it 18 days let alone 18 weeks. People in England can wait for years but that's OK because that is what Michael Moore wants.
Socialized medicine starts with a huge influx of cash then the flow turns to a trickle. That trickle won't sustain growth. There are more MRI machines in Orange Co., California than in Canada. The same is true of CT Scans. The health system you want so much is in its death throws. Give it a couple of more years and there will be revolts in Canada and England. Right now, no one in either place will use the government system if they can afford anything else.
Michael Moore feeds you garbage, he lies to you and you swallow it. You are right, this government is by the people not big business like Hollywood.
BTW, who do you think pays for EVERYTHING in this country? The final consumer does, that’s who. When you buy a loaf of bread every cent of tax associated with its growth, transportation, manufacture and so on is rolled into the price. Companies pass taxes on to you and me.
You hit the oil company, they pass it to the trucker that carries that loaf of bread, he charges the store who in turn charges you. I find it hard to believe than ANYONE can't figure that out.
I really wish some of you emotional liberals would actually learn how some things work. I find the general ignorance in America appalling and the liberals are far worse than the conservatives when it comes to understanding what ACTUALLY goes on. The liberals seem to accept anything a liberal says automatically and reject anything a conservative says out of hand. Your education only taught you what to think, no one ever tried to teach you how to think. That, my friend, is our liberal education system.
My nephew graduated from high school. Got the diploma, wore the robe, you know the whole works. He couldn't read the question on the written portion of his drivers test. An examiner had to read them. He can’t fill out a job application but he sure knows where the Welfare Office is, just like his mother and father did before him. He is the classic example of America's education system today. BTW, he is so liberal he makes you and Michael Moore look like Hitler and Mussolini.
The whole damn country is in sad shape. And in my opinion social programs are the main reason why.

the simple fact is... more and more can't afford inusrance every day... PERIOD... costs are rising much faster than pay rates...
and as that number grows... each one is a voter for socialized healthcare... and if conservatives keep pushing to do nothing and leave the system as it is...
eventually, those without health care will be the majority... and then change will occur... and Repubicans will be remembered as those that stood in the way...

Uh, I think you separate the need for health care reform from your undeserving love of Michael Moore. Moore has made deceiving movies, solely to make millions of dollars. That, of course, if fine, except that he portrays himself as just a poor slob exposing the evil rich - but he's one of them. His latest lie is that America's health care system sucks and Canada's rocks. Neither is true. Canada's is in poor shape. Ours isn't in good shape either, but it's still the best in the world when you take into account both cost and quality/immediacy of service.
So, yes, we need reform. The costs are out of control. But Michael Moore is not the savior, and you can't solve the problem by just laying billions of dollars in costs/taxes on the rich and the corporations. That punishment will trickle down to the rest of us in higher prices for goods and less jobs, amongst other things.

This is no right wing conspiracy. The Liberals in Toronto discovered this. This guy is a fraud, and you should be embarrassed to give him any credibility.

Michael Moore is out to make money at anyone's expense. He shows his distorted view of life and presents it as fact. If he cares so much he and his Hollywood buddies should turn Los Angeles into a model city for the rest of the nation of envy. He an all the other Hollywood blow hards are worst ambassadors America has ever had.

Micheal Moore is blantantly partisan and has no real grounds with reality. Have you ever heard of Farenheit 911? I figured you had. This "documentary" is filled with utter lies! Also, I assume that you mean we need "Universal Heath Care" here in the United States? That would be the worst thing to happen to health care in this country since, well, ever. Look at the facts. Look at the UK! Their health care has been becoming progressively worse for years. Oops, sorry, got sidetracked, it's just that all this stuff gets me riled up. One last thing...what are Micheal Moore's credentials to critique/tell how to run the United States?
