They are taking there first breath and they are basically squeezed out of there nice cozy warm home. Crying is the first thing they learn how to do.

If you were being ripped from the only home you knew for 9 months into a cold bright world with lots of talking and stuff going on, I think you might cry too.

The birthing process is fairly traumatic if you think about it. It's a good thing we don't remember it as adults! If I had to go through something like that, I would probably cry too!

Besides being squeezed, cold and angry crying helps clear the lungs.

If the child doesn't cry naturally the doctor usually slaps them (lightly) to get them started so they can get air into their lungs

Doctors say there testing their lungs but other say cause it's warn inside the womb so there going from warm to cold

they cry because they have been in an environment that supplies everything they need...its warm and comforting to them..,then all of a sudden they are jerked away from it into a cold, bright, and noisy environment....

come on it must hurt the baby a little being squashed like that and forced to come out of a small area

I would think it hurts to be compressed like they are coming out. I mean it hurts us cause they dont really fit so you know they are getting squashed, and they feel every contraction crushing them too!!!
