I saw this heading
Three thousand year-old mummy discovered in Egypt
And then tis pissed me off
The 18th Dynasty mummy of Sennefer was UNEARTHED in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings
What is it with these people, don't they have any respect? What would happen if I went and dug up George Washington's grave? Why isn't anyone going around Europe digging up graves and opening tombs....... O yeah they don't have any! I'm a little to upset right now to be articulate, but how do you feel about opening up the Egyptian tombs? We know they're old, we know how it's done, we know why, What is the reason to keep desecrating these graves?

My point is, What would happen if anyone started digging up G. W's grave or any of those Vatican Child molesting priest's graves.
"Mummies" are corpses, there is nothing to learn .............We know what and why. What if someone started digging up you great great grand parents and there former relatives' graves? No all archaeologists aren't white but how many black ones are digging up Egyptian tombs?
Lastly Bombastic are you saying that the White race is from or has an African history? Have you ever heard of respecting the dead?

The $ sign & you are right, anyone digging up George Washington's grave would be considered a 'vandel' purely because there is no treasure to plunder.

First, I don't know color or race of people doing digging,
Second, Ancient artifacts are highly regulated by all governments so do not blame outsiders for what is happening with in a country, because it is their system, land and politics that allow this to happen.
3rd, GW has been dug up and moved a few times and im not worried about GW, more the creepy people doing it.
4th, they do dig and survey every sight in the US before construction
5th, they also do it in europe and have made some unbelivable finds
6th, doofus, its the oldest most sophisticated culture we know of and we do learn a lot from the remains, its not like there are a hundred relatives, paintings and a road map to these things. Its where trade began, writings were prolific, slavery was in place. All of which would be nice to have answers too.
and 7th. City of Worcester MA. Bought a church and its grave yards every 4-6 years they plant a tree and dig up some new head stones. Fonda race track NH, makes the back turn around some old tomb stones, knocks them down 3-5 times a race.
Dunno why your so upset, ask the government there. Women cant even drive there, the place is so tightly wound and you sound like we just went their bull dozed some dirt and pissed on a grave. Not true. not accurate

Somebody give this boy a Valium! Calm down a little. It's called archaeological research. Even today so little is known about the ancient world, that every discovery merits investigation, and scientific scrutiny. Your rant is a just a little inaccurate also. The fact is that the same research IS conducted in Europe. Have you never heard of the bog people? These are the remains of a culture that existed several centuries before the Roman Empire, in what is known as Iron age Europe. Several years ago, the remains of what might have been a high ranking woman of authority was unearthed in China. The amazing thing about that discovery was that she was wrapped in a silk burial shroud. The common historical assumption up to that point was that silk began to appear from 3500, to 4000, years ago. Her remains were at least 5000 years old. Perhaps you have no idea of just how intricate a process it is to cultivate, harvest, spin, and weave into material the butt-end product of a grubb. And no Black & Decker power tools either.
It has been estimated that 90% of the films that Hollywood has ever produced, are lost forever. Why? Because no-one today realizes how big the silent era was, and almost all of that film was recorded on acetate film, which is now dust. And this is in less than 100 years.
The point I am trying to make is that historical research is always important--not only to discover our past, but to gain some clues as to who we are.
It wasn't untill a few years ago that the thought of the Vikings being in North America before Columbus was in the Carribean was pure conjecture. That has now been established as historical fact. They got as far as what is now Montreal. How was this determined? By unearthing burial mounds discovered in the area.
Now take a deep breath, settle down, drink a beer. It's all OKAY.
The Italian Gov't has been working on restoring the Colosseum for several years now. Something of interest that they have discovered through unearthing the foundations, is that, yes indeed there were female gladiators as well as men.
Their WWE, Our WWE. That's All.

That is just about the most 'ignint' thing I've heard in a while! If man never unearthed anything in Egypt (one of the very areas of the start of intelligent civilization) we would never have learned about Egyptian culture. Did you know that just a few years back the world learned that ancient Egyptians weren
't put to slavery to build the great tombs but were feed like kings to build them? Do you know how we found that out? WE DUG!!! You talk about trying to not be articulate yet you cannot use the proper verbiage; "their" when you used there. You have a lame argument when you talk hated, "... Vatican Child molesting priest's graves...", how can anyone take your rhetoric seriously when you are just mad that you're ignorant? I see by your pic that you pump iron when you should be pumpin' knowledge because you seem to have very little of it. I mean, look at your heading...it says to me, "hello, I'm a racist jerk and I hate the white man because he's digging in Egypt." Where do you think the artifacts that were FOUND are going to be kept, England? No idiot, they'll be kept in their motherland. The white man has no permission to dig in Egyptian soil without express written consent!
Don't you have any respect? I'll tell you, my best man would hear what you have to say and wonder what the f**k is wrong with the black man?...his OWN race. Get out of here, buy a ticket to Cairo, walk to the Egyptian authorities and tell them of this monstrosity you speak so eloquently of you racist piece of garbage!

I don't know what is wrong with white people, but i do know that you should be pissed at the Egyptians for letting people open the tombs if you are gonna be mad at anyone. There are plenty of European kings and roman rulers whose tombs have been seen and unearthed. Oh yea and as for George Washington, in case you didn't notice he was not a king that was covered in gold and also he was thousands of years after this. Maybe you don't know this and i will not play it as your fault but society changes and also the way people are laid to rest. So if you wanna go out and get a large tomb and put yourself in it when your dead, than by all means do it, and no one will stop you. However someday you may have your tomb opened up by someone a few thousand years from now...so make sure you bring all the gold chains you can with you when you are buried.

Probably it is being done for the purpose of history or science. There are few burial sites in the world that are that old and well preserved.
Besides, the Egyptian government must have consented to allow the so-called "White" people to unearth the tombs anyway. And the Egyptian government represents the Egyptian people.
How can you get angry at "white" people for being interested in something that is of some significance historically. If there was enough opinion in the Egyptian government similar to yours I am sure that the tombs would be untouched today.
Probably the government sides with the scientists and historians that the possible benefits outweigh the negatives of such an undertaking.

As a "white" person I can only assume that it is in the history of science. It's not only the "white" man who is interested in this though. There are teams of people all over the world from all ethnicities that are digging up graves, sites, mountains as I write. If the Egyptian people are offended by that, I urge them to lobby against the global archaeological society, however, many things can be learned from a grave. Many times the health industry learn important clues for solving today's viruses. There are also important anthropological reasons that give clues to why, what where and how. People need to learn. It is a post operative need for humans.
*Each grave tends to reveal something different.
If Egyptian scientists were doing it, would you feel the same way?

Excuse me, nothing in what you wrote indicated the color of skin of the people digging up the tomb. Although people from many countries sponsor and participate in archaeological digs all such in Egypt are down with Egyptian supervision. Also you must have missed the news about the graves of young children recently discovered in a cave in Europe, think it was France.
Also wouldm you rather treasure hunters dug them up? At least the mummies are kept intact and no longer sold as fertilizer.

As a white person, I am pretty offended by your rant. If you are a black person, and if I said the same thing you just did about black people, I would probably be banned.
Moral of the story: If you don't want to be talked about that way, then don't talk that way.
Not ALL white people are digging up graves.
If I had said something like that about black people, I would be a racist. That makes you a racist, too.

What do white people have do do with it? It's not about race. I can see your question having some sense, but not the part where you discriminate against whites. Don't you know that it's not 'the whites' alone that are digging those tombs up? I do believe that the Egyptians themselves are involved as well as any other race. Stop being racist. Any race or color deserves respect.

The problem is that they want to find out about the past so badly that nothing stands in their way.
However, there are a lot of people where they dig up the graves that aren't white, and own the land. They sell the land to the "white people" and LET them dig it up. So the whole "White people" thing is not fair. That's actually kind of shallow.
