What the real question is, why do people think Moss and Stallworth are great receivers? Moss can't run the right pattern and costs his team. Stallworth is average. So the people who are expecting an offensive explosion are setting themselves up for vast disappointment.

Here's what I think of ANY successful quarterback. Be it Tom Brady, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, etc. The quarterback is only as good as his receivers are at catching passes, running backs finding the hole and picking up a blitz, and the o-line is at blocking. Oversimplification, maybe. But the last time I looked, there are 10 guys on a field with Tom Brady, and they all do their jobs at a very high level. For any team to have prolonged success like the 80's 49ers or the Cowboys in the 90's, the entire team has to buy into a system. Also, remember, there was a decent quarterback named Drew Bledsoe that floundered in Billichek's system. So, I guess what I am saying is that a lot of things have to happen right for a team's success, not just the players or system, but both.
I do not see Brady having much improvement, however. I just have not seen Moss do anything well other than run fast on a straight deep pattern. I think Stallworth CAN help if he decides to show up. I just don't know if either player's ego will be checked in favor of the team, which is the great secret to the Patriots success.

For Tom Brady it's like winning the Daytona 500 while riding a bicycle then the next season you get a real racecar. How do you say TOUCHDOWN! He was finding average recievers all over the field now he will have real talent at WR so look out defences. If you have the recievers covered there is always the TE or RB to throw to. He could have a monster season. The run game will even be better because defences will have to honor the deep threat Moss and Stallworth bring to the game.

For the same reason ill-logical "fans" of the Patriots say Tom Brady is better than Peyton Manning :"he has NEVER had a decent receiver....look at what he's done ....etc.." Well in Belichick's system, he DOESN'T need talented receivers, just ones that are disciplined, coachable, and committed to winning. Their offensive schemes have never been designed to blow out, or completely dominant the game. Their agenda has been to win ugly, by means of winning any way possible; whether it would be passing the ball, running, gimmick plays etc.. Where were all these "fans" when Christian Faureia, Daniel Grahem, David Givens, and David Patten were catching balls from Brady? They never had a problem catching the ball, and they actually looked like superstars in the system, but now are busts on other teams. Then these new receivers dropped a few balls in the Championship game, and all of a sudden it seems like Brady has always had a raggedy offense, so they completely overhauled the receiving core, and now everyones claming that Brady wil be better than Favre, Montana and Marino combined, just because they brought in some receivers they really didnt need.
You hit it right on the mark, Brady is a great quarterback and benefits from a system that doesn't rely on him to be absolutely perfect or needing a marquee receiver, just good enough to find the open receiver and for that receiver to go through his reads and make the catch. Just because they brought in some new pass catchers, doesn't mean he'll perform better. Maybe he'll have better stats now, but it doesn't make Brady the Quarterback, better.

I totally agree with you. Let's look at this thing with some common sense. First off, Brady has always put up good numbers so he doesn't have much room to improve. Do people really think he is going to be a record setting QB now, I doubt it. Second of all, I am not even sure that Moss and Stallworth are even going to fit into the Pat's system. I know Bellicheck is a genius so I am sure he will make it work. But the Pat's like to throw short to intermediate routes across the middle. Uhhh, has Moss ever gone over the middle. NO!! and nobody has a worse case of alligator arms than Stallworth. And I don't see Bellicheck changing up the whole offense for WR's. So Brady will put up good numbers, again, but they won't be anything different from his usual 3,500 yards and 27 TD's,

Simply because Moss and Stallworth can get open and then catch the ball. Good recievers will make any QB better. And when you spread the field and you have a superstar WR or two it leaves the other recievers open more than normal.

I have been a fan of Randy Moss since he was mooning people as a Viking.....I have his jerseys...I wore them many times in school...do you know how much crap I got saying that we was washed up..and how he can't play anymore...
now that he is a Pat people are saying he is goingg to save the world and that the Pats are goin to the superbowl...now...don't get me wrong..I think that they will..a WR can only be as good as his QB..in the case of Oakland....since Moss and Stallworth (both are very deep threats) have Brady as their QB..who likes having a deep threat, hasn't had a true deep threat, and now has TWO very capable deep threats...I can see them stretching the field several times a game..wearing down the DB...then just using out-in routes...I can see Moss, Stallworth, and Brady being such a force to be reckoned with that they will be nearly unstoppable.

It will boost his value because it give him one of the leagues best deep threats in stallworth, and one of the best game breaking recievers in moss
Anytime a reciever combination like that steps onto the field it instantly makes the rest of the offenses better, no matter who they are. The opposing defense has to respect there abilities and give them cushions or double coverage, which opens up the passing game for the other recievers (including tightends and runningbacks). And with more players recieving less coverage it becomes much easier for a QB to find an open target in his other options, and thats what raises Brady's value. Its not that he's a better player with their presence its that his skills will show better with the bigger wealth of talent

Uh...Yeah, he has been very good with average receivers...Now he has elite receivers in Moss and Stallworth...Get ready to hear Brady to Moss and Brady to Stallworth TOUCHDOWN a lot...The offense has been good...Now it should be AWESOME...Can you say the 49ers of the 80s revisited?...This question obviously asked by an envious, nervous, and scared Colts fan...They should be...Be afraid...Be VERY afraid...Here come the mighty Pats...
