SCENARIO: Your local bank made a mistake on your printed checks. Additionally, the bank charged you for the checks, even though the order was supposed to be complimentary for customers opening a new account. How would you draft a letter that follows your irritation to work for, rather than against you?

I'd start by saying "If this is an example of the way you operate - especially with new customers - you can keep your account and I'm going to a bank with a bit more business acumen" - then see what they say !-

Be very measured & factual in your description.
Tell what happened & when, from your opening the account, your expectations on first placing the order, up to delivery.
Then do not get emotional, but say something like:
"Imagine my consternation when I discovered (the mistake)"
"Furthermore, when my statement arrives, I find that I was charged for the originals/correction of the cheques.
Be polite: "I trust you will correct this obvious oversight."

you are the customer tell em how you feel and include a copy of their literature stating complimentary bullocks. fair trades as it only costs the banks pennies to process such orders and they can only charge you cost price
