There is no ideal temperature, what's good for you, might not be good for me.
Keep in mind, if you have kids around, it shouldn't be any hotter then they can stand, so they don't get burned.
The colder it is, the more your going to use.

I like mine turned up hot 150 degrees, I have a 30 gallon water heater and like long showers, so as not to run out of hot water I turn it up so I can have a long shower in spite of my limited hot water supply.
Of course there is the safety factor and economy considerations
I would say turn it down as low as is practical for your purposes, but not below 120 degrees.

If there are kids in the house don't set it above 120. Anything else is a scalding danger. A hot shower is between 106 and 110.

Recommend 120. If you are comfortable with 110 that's better and you'll save money.

well that is up to you. How hot do you like your shower.
I like mine hot and long so I have mine set to like 120 and also have a blanket around it (added insulation you can get at Lowes or Home Depot)
So Its all up to you and how big your family is

turning up the temperature won't make it heat the water faster.
