Hardly 2 months after using my new Mercedes E200K I noticed an unpleasant odor in the air issuing from the Airconditioner for approximately 1to 2 minutes of turning it on.
The odor gradually goes off only to come back when the airconditioner is turned on again after stopping for approximately more than 4 hours. At the first service after 6 months, the Agent's Mercedes accreditted Workshop attended to the complaint but had returned the car without the defect of ill odor from the Airconditiner rectified. Now, at 8 months old the Mercedes E200K continues to issue stinking air from its Airconditioner during the first 1 to 2 minutes of start-up. It is both distressing and embarrassing to drive a stinking car relatively new with odometer indicating not more than 5000 Km!!

The condensate in your air ducts is growing mold. You need a foam flush of your ducts and learn to run your a/c with the recirculator off for the first few minutes to get fresh air from the outside to dry the condensate from the last time you used your a/c. If the techs at your Mercedes dealership couldn't figure that one out I question their training. It shouldn't happen in such a pricey auto maker, but obviously it has. Find a new dealership/shop.

mine is the same and i was told that it's cuz of the newer types of AC units. i use the air fresheners that can be attached to the vents. otherwise, call the dealer.
