Are You Like Me? Wondering what exactly a "Conservative" is these days?

Now, some Republicans are calling Bush a liberal. They're starting to blur the definition of what a "red state" is...now, it's red counties, blue counties. They're starting to separate the "fiscal conservatives", "social conservatives" and "militaristic" arms of the Republican party. What exactly is the definition of conservative these days?

Lately conservatives have been propaganda slinging sheep. Their best ally is the ability to lie and distort the truth to try to make themselves look good. A lot of people can see through their facade but they don't think we can and act as if they didn't do anything wrong anyways. They're an interesting bunch for sure. Like the communists, their color is red. There tends to be more of them in the republican party, but can be found in the democratic party.

There are two types of Conservative these days (although the Liberals either can't or won't differentiate between the two - they just blame Conservatives).

The Neo-Conservatives are the young and religious George Bush Jr. Conservatives. The Neo-Cons are the Conservatives who believe the Bible is right and everything should be according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments. Also, the majority of Neo-Cons are located (obviously) in the so-called "Bible Belt" and are Christian or one of the various Christian sects. Of the two versions of Conservatives, the Neo-Cons are the loudest.

The Conservatives are the quieter of the two. Conservatives don't place as much emphasis on religion as the Neo-Cons do and aren't afraid of science like the Neo-Cons are. Furthermore, a lot of Conservatives are pro-science and are often the Conservatives who have turned anti-Bush.

Unfortunately...a lot of Conservatives are migrating to the Libertarian party since the Republican party has been tainted so throughly by the Neo-Conservatives.

The liberal,far left media is producing so much political rhetoric, are NOT reporting truth anymore, (might as well be looking at the National Inquirer) and are building up their own agendas, which is to have this country evolve into a single party system, to a point where chaos is spreading like wildfire. To correct lilliesweet's bum analogy.

A conservative gives his dollar to the bum on the street.

A liberal gives someone else's dollar to the bum on the street. However, before the bum gets the dollar, it is placed into an endless beauracratic system and the bum ends up getting about 11 cents.

I wish the conservative would charge 18% interest. That would at least be a lot more fiscal responsibility than we have in the White House today!!

People try to narrow things down in politics too much.

To me, the definition of "conservative" is the same as it has always been. Lower taxes, strong defense, support of traditional values, smaller government, etc. If a politician supports most of these issues he or she could be considered conservative.

i'm greater fiscally conservative than socially. So I evaluate myslef a Libertarian conservative. i'm for: *For smaller government. much less gov. involvement in the two our financial and social lives. which potential what I do in my spare time, as long as i don't hamper on somebody elses rights, isn't the govs business enterprise. Fiscally, potential the only taxes I could pay are rather: Roads, police, firefighting, armed forces and water. Welfare and all socialist gov. courses could be converted to charitable businesses. faculties could be privatized! Plus, we choose not ignore and brush off our classic values and morals that have carried us in the process our history, like many liberals choose! you possibly can be modern-day, on an identical time as additionally keeping authentic on your history!
