i have a custom built computer and it had xp on it but i installed windows vista home basic and all the sudden i have no sound. my brother installed it and he has sound.
i tried the following:
- my speakers are connected properly
- i tried my stereo, and other speakers
- my volume is cranked and not muted
but i have no sound

would usb speakers work??

oh and its a asus sound card

You'll need to identify what brand and model your sound card is and visit their website. If it's a Creative Sound Blaster, which is 90% of cards in computers, visit http://www.soundblaster.com/support/ to download your Vista compatible driver. Hope this helps!

USB speakers will work but they still need to be compatible with Windows Vista.

Vista is an OS that no person became into waiting to develop for terribly comparable to the launch of the PS3 no person can develop for it. Nvidia and ATI are subsidiaries of Microsoft so there going to have them our stunning away. creative is yet another beast and properly like me are likley waiting for Microsoft to make an apology for there OS

i tell ppl not to upgrade to vista and they do neways. check the sound card manufactures , or motherboards site.
