Does it ultimately come down to jealousy/envy?

Stephanie - History prooves that other countries have been unable to finish wars they've started, or have needed our help..

Why is it, other countries love to talk smack, yet do nothing when we are there to save the day?

Usually. Some have huge problems with our almost complete lack of morals, our cruel joke of a school system or the shallowness of many Americans wrapped up in getting stuff.

But often is comes down to being jealous of the rich American who has everything. Poor people in American cities throw rocks at limos going by for the same simplistic reason: "You have everything and I've got nothing! That's not fair!"

Their envy often leads to them wanting to destroy our country. Why? Because they want to drag us down to their level in the slime and make us feel bad.

I don't hate the U.S. but I've been outside the cocoon and have gotten to see different points of view. I'm not naive enough to believe everything the U.S. does smells like sweet roses. Yes, the U.S. is the richest, most powerful, and most free country in the world. The U.S. has done many great and good things. There is much to recommend it. However, having said that, riches don't equate to happiness and I think the U.S. shouldn't be so arrogant as to believe they do everything perfectly and that everyone else is just clueless. A little humility never hurt. Also, the U.S. should try to take the 'best practices' of all countries around the world and you will find it will enrich and enhance the U.S. lifestyle (I can hear the ultraconservatives lamenting and saying this is unpatriotic or some rant about the American way being the best).

A lot of it comes from media...I've recently been in England and France and was shocked at the anti-American undertone in mainstream news there. If you're talking about Islamic nations, it's because the Koran explicitly states that there is to be no toleration of other religions, that Sharia law should rule totally. America stands for democracy and religious freedoms, a place where Sharia law cannot rule.

Because we are arrogant, meddling, know-it-all, above the law hypocrites. Have you ever been over seas? It is very easy to pick out the Americans in the group. And you don't need a history book to see how our leaders repeatedly earn this disrespect and hatred.

Just our use of the word Americans! How arrogant is that? Canadians, Mexicans, Panamanians are all Americans (North America) and Brazilians, Chileans and Bolivians are all Americans (South America).

Yet we from the U.S. demand that only we can be called Americans. Especially when you consider that about 99.4% of "Americans" emigrated to the U.S. from Europe, Africa or Asia within the past 400 years.

Oh yeah and the Bush-Chenney dream team haven't helped at all.

Mostly it is not the people, unless we're talking about radical Islam, mostly it is dictators .... people who have power who hate the USA for the threat of freedom. They don't want their people free. It is a threat to their power.

not really. as some people have pride in the US, others are entitled to be prideful of their home countries. What I dont get is immigrants taking pride in the country they left ..if they like it so much, why dont they go back?

From our everlasting abundance and jealousy of it.
They create lies to teach the youth to hate us and take us over.
All the while they want what we have only to destroy it once given.
Case in point, all the illegals from Mexico!

Have you seen a well kept barrio ?

Yeah thats it. Jealousy and envy. Study the USA's history of meddling in the governments of other countries.

They don't hate us for our freedoms either by the way.

I am not talking about wars they have started and not finished. I am talking about overthrowing democratically elected leaders and installing our own brutal dictators who will do what we want. In Iran in the 50's the CIA overthrew the elected President because he was giving Britains oil companies who had contracts with Iran trouble. We installed the corrupt Shah of Iran, leading us to our current problems with Iran today. The people in that country who hate us, don't just hate us for no reason.
