most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.
you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.
firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.
as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:

Here is an excellent free antivirus program from AOL, Active Virus Shield powered by Kaspersky Lab of Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. You will get auto updates every hour on the hour, plus an excellent background scanner that really works great. AOL, will only ask you for your email so they can send you a free key good for one year. After one year just request a new key.

I see that this question is from "Business Owner." Please read very carefully the EULA with any free anti-virus program you might think to use -- those that I know of (and there are many that I do not) quite explicitly limit their free versions to personal use, and not allowed for business use.
The best free programs that also charge for business versions typically offer greater functionality with their commercial products. That alone may be worth your spending a few bucks.
Good luck!

AVG, AVISTA, and BitDefender are some of the best. U can always use an online one, though it does not protect ur computer from viruses, spyware, etc it cleans them. use trend micro HouseCall.

In addition to a firewall you must have full time (active) virus protection and full time spyware protection.
All the following programs are free.
---------------------------------------------
Full Time (Active) Virus Protection
If you do not have active virus protection, install only one. All are excellent.
Try AVG first.
AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

Install the following five programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all five. They will greatly increase your protection. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection.
