Man charged in deaths of wife, 3 kids. What kind of person does it take to do something so horrible?

I live very near where the bodies of this poor family were found. It has been very difficult on the folks around here. As to why he did it....I read somewhere today that a mind like this sometimes thinks he will be sparing his family the pain of loss (real or imagined) That is how he can justify (in his sick mind) what he is about to do. There has been speculation here that he had some major money difficulties (possibly being on the verge of bankruptcy also speculation that he was about to leave his family (he admitted to a family member that he was having an affair and was contemplating divorce.)
I'm sure many new details are going to come out in the coming weeks. I hope though that none of this info will jeopardize the upcoming trial for this sick-o.

Wow I didn't even realize that this was a political question until the last sentence. Yes it's in the politics section, but I didn't bother to pay any attention. Maybe, she cheated on him? One never knows what goes on in peoples private lives. These types of behaviors really do not mean that someone can not be the president. In the past no one looked into the presidents private life as we do now. Unless, he is a spousal abuser, the fact that he divorced his wife is his buisness, not ours. I'm not saying vote for him, but this is not a reason to not vote for him if you believe in what he stands for. Vote based on policy, not personality. That is the only way our country will move in the correct direction. People voted George Bush in based on liking him as a person, that is NOT a reason why someone should be president. We aren't in high school, it's not about who is more popular, it's about who you feel will take the country where it needs to go.

I knew he would get charged....who kills a woman and children with multiple gun shots but shoots the man in the leg? It doesn't make sense. A sociopath does somehting like that. No different than scott petersen.

for someone to do that they have to be really messed up. i couldnt even imagine what he was thinking. This reminds me of the shooting in trolley square in salt lake (im from utah) he just was shooting anyone he could and dont think anyone should think they have the power to take another persons life unless you are protecting someone you care about or stuff like that..

we may never know because we just lock them up or kill them without trying to study them or figure out how to get people help BEFORE they snap...just saw an article about a kid who killed his mom and all the warning signs were there and no one paid attention and once again everyone is like oh dear who could see it coming....any one paying attention and not just the cops. the way we handle mental health issues in this country is appalling. we expect police and the courts to deal with the mentally ill who act out too much and lo and behold they are not doing such a good job because they are not trained for it THEY ARE COPS not mental health experts. almost half of their runs involve people with mental health issues who if they got help would not be a police concern...you can thank "mainstreaming" and greedy republicans closing hospitals and throwing the ill out in the streets so they could save money for their faith based initiatives.

He obviously is very disturbed. I cannot even imagine killing a loved one, especially children. The reason I think he is so disturbed is he didn't even come up with a probable story.
