how come carrying knives are legal...but not nunchucks?

i asked a police officer and he told me that if im carrying a knife in my pocket its gotta be 4 inches and below....
my question is....4 inches is enough to kill someone ...but how come i cant carry a nunchuck...

Many people carry knives for work purposes and practical reasons not related to killing and our harming others.there fore the law states you can have one but only of sufficient length to be used for utility.The other weapon is a blunt force trauma weapon and has no other use but to be used as such, there for the law restricts it.

The thinking is that a small knife has legitimate uses other than being used to attack a person. But there is no legitimate use for which a person could justify carrying around nunchucks - except to hurt someone.

The law are different in other States , the knife can not be over 2 and a half inches. In Virginia nunchuks are illegal also, unless taking the weapon to martial art practices.

Be careful carrying a four inch knife around. If a female officer sees it, she may think it's 9 inches long.
