Depends. What country are you talking about? People, it's best not to assume this person means the US. American citizens, you are not the only republic in the world. Other nations have Presidents too.
Your one is just the best example of what you get if you don't pay total attention.

True Gent? A president is directly elected by the voting public. A president is head of state. Tony Blair is not only not a president and not head of state, he's not even Prime Minister anymore.
