Excessive flooding and too many trees in the way. Besides, there are other forms of agriculture that work better than farming for places like this. Gathering fruits and nuts from local trees, fisheries, and the collection of rubber sap are more than adequate for the area.

The fact that we continually slash and burn acres of rainforest each day to raise cattle and limited crops should make this a moot question.
