i usually go and tell them that want it when they throw it away. so they'll get your name nd numba nd stick it on the back of the poster.
And if they're really stingy, they might make you pay like 300 bux for it. But ask nad they'll let you have it

Usually the manager will either sell it or throw it away. You could ask the manager if you could buy it from the theater

Call the manager and make an offer, some times the movie studio wants them back or proof of destruction.

my friend used to work at a movie theater and what they used to do with movie poster and billboards is that they give it away to their employees first, and if nobody wants it, then they throw it away. if you know somebody who works at a local movie theater, ask them if they can get it for you. otherwise, search ebay.

i would ask the manager ASAP if he can give it to you as a favor when the movie is finished running. that way you will know in advance that you have a chance of getting the poster. good luck!

Usually those cardboard cut-outs are sent to dollar theatres afterwards, but memorabilia standees are something you can search under.
This is a link to ebay auctions of some too:

I think checking their garbage would be your best bet. Or befriending someone there so they can tell you when they are throwing them out.

I would simply ask for it. If the answer is no, then I would ask what I could do or pay to have it.
