printer worked with my old computer fine but vista does not or will not work together. is there a program or software i can download or buy to make it work.

You should have checked first to see if HP had Vista drivers for your printer. If HP does not have the Vista drivers for your printer, they do not exist.

Is your printer vista ready. Some of the hardware that was available for 98 and xp are not capable for vista. you might can go to the printers site and see if they have an update.

Before you download ANYTHING goto Microsoft.com and check for WHQL-Certified driver list for your printer make and model. Unless a driver is certified by Micrsoft, it won't work properly with Vista. . . and can cause Stop Errors (Blue screen of Death errors) and other weird problems with your Vista. I see laptop PC's all day every day where people tried to load XP software and drivers onto Vista, only to have major problems. Vista requires Microsoft certified drivers for any devices attached to it. Please, for your own sanity, go to thier website and look it up!

you may just be able to run the printer setup wizard, i know that for xp it would let previous OS version printers run on it then.
