I was just wondering if girls have the same "money mindedness" than guys. I mean, not all guys are responsible either, but I just wondered how you girls feel about this subject? I was taught to save money and only buy what I need, and have been quite successful until I met my girlfriend. Nothing bad, I just need to go over a budget with her and STICK to it. Are girls wise with money or is that a rare trait? I'm just curious if they all have to be trained? Also, guys...would you care if a girl had her own job or not?

Being good with money is largely a matter of childhood training. So what your parents taught you is much more important than your sex. If anything, I think women tend to be better money managers than guys because they tend to be somewhat less impulsive.

I'm very good at saving money. Mostly because what I like to buy are stocks!

Also, it helps that in fashion, I've never been a "label monger". If what I like happens to be a designer label, then okay. But, as a rule,. I never follow the label. Women that are slaves to fashion spend way too much on stuff they don't need.

Household goods too, this is where men and women overspend. I differ here, too. My rule for buying is if I don't want to clean it,dust it or use it too often... Then I don't want it.

A persons sex has no bearing on their ability, or lack there of to save or be frugal with money!
Perhaps your girlfriend equates you purchasing things for her as proof of your love for her, and even if this is the case it is not cause she is a woman, it would be a personality trait.
Only buy things for her that you are willing to buy, if she has a problem with that then perhaps it is time for you to move on.
As far as whether I would approve of my girlfriend/wife having a job goes, I would most certainly would approve and even insist that she did.

I didn't have to be 'trained'. My husband an I agreed that I would be the one in charge of the bills and such because it stresses him out. I have never made a mistake that amounted to any problems and we've always got our bills paid on time.
