He knows his ultimate fate and he's terrified. He is also full of hate and anger and wants to take all of mankind with him into everlasting punishment. Sadly, a lot of people choose to go. They reject the only One who can save them, Jesus Christ.

The devil is not a human force, therefore he has no human vulnerabilities so "he" is not afraid of anything. He does, however, exist figuratively within all evil people. Those evil people believe that if someone loves and cares for them, that person is weak.
