Hi!
I would remove the parents into a bowl, cover the bowl with a towel to prevent them from jumping out, then sprinkling a little fry food. When the fry come up to eat, catch them with a net. It takes a little patience, but it's a trick that worked for me!

To prevent your female platy from having babies in the community, keep an eye on her and check her daily. When she's heavily gravid, put her into a breeding trap which can be gotten at a pet store or Wal-Mart. I recommend a medium size breeder for a platy. When she is done having her babies, remove the fry trap and the breeder provides the fry with a safe place to grow.

You can use a very fine net to move the fry, even so it is have to catch them because of their size. So Instead of moving the fry you should move the parents out instead, anyway a 3 gal tank is too small for platys. Get a bigger tank maybe a 10 gal or bigger, remember the babies will soon grow up to big adult fish and you might want to keep them.

You can also use plenty of fine-leaved plants like hornhort, Ambulia, Cabomba, etc. (they can be plastic, they don't have to be real) to provide cover for the babies as a hiding place. Or use a tank divider to keep the parents and fry separated in the same tank.

use a fish net. The ones that don't have any holes. Then place them in another tank with some of the current tank water or place them in a breeding net in the current tank.

get the adults out instead and put them in a 5 gallon and retransfer after that when they get older for more room or get a 10 gallon and put all together.
