There are risks in every thing we do and wearing high heels is no exception. However, I am only dealing with one's right of choice and not all the other reasons people claimed whether or not to wear heels.
Some how people got the idea, a design of footwear automatically gives it a sex classification. In reality, the high spike or stiletto heeled shoe has no sex qualities of its own. As a thing or an object, it is only a commodity. As an article of clothing, its wearer may claim ownership, but still it is an ornament of foot adornment or protection. Due to its design, a person's walk and profile may change through it's use, but this still doesn't qualify its sex.
Society dictates the use of the high heeled shoe. Due to this dictation, many people have become bigoted against males, who want to excercise their choice of footwear in public. This social attitude puts people down, causes alot of unnecessary hardship, and restricts an already occupied mind from an even greater potential.

It's a free country, but because of some ingrained social "norms", folks take things like that the wrong way. Most folks could care less what shoes you wear, but the narrow-minded few who equate a guy wearing heels with being gay feel the need to go out of their way to make up for their insecurities by making fun of it. Nothing wrong with a guy wearing heels. They're just shoes. True, it's not something you see everyday, but 100 years ago it was considered taboo for women to wear pants. Going much further back, it was the men, not the women, who were the ones wearing high heels. If I saw a guy wearing heels, I'd probably do a double take, but I'd say more power to him for expressing his own style.

Well, obviously, it is less comfortable to wear heels than, say, sneakers. But, the right heel can be very comfortable. Some hurt more than others. Most of the time there is no reason to take them off while sitting, though driving can be harder with them. I wear them on occasion, though I wish some times I had the wardrobe to wear them daily. The fact that they are sexy is probably 99% of why women wear them, or even why they exist at all. They can be easy to walk in, again, if the right heel is chosen. The height of the heel is somewhat restricted by the length of the foot; there are ways of getting around this to an extent, but a woman with a size 9 shoe can wear a taller heel than a woman with a size 5. I prefer 3-4 inch heels, because that is what I can wear for an extended period of time, and that I think is sexy. Personally, and this is just my view, I don't think they are appropriate for very young women (wearing red stiletto heels under 16 years old really isn't cool, Miley Cyrus!), but they always look good.

It's not that men aren't allowed to wear high heels. According to traditional attitudes, men aren't suppose to have the same desire for wearing items that women wear and visa versa. It's the present social attitude that has biased people to think that men are trying to become women should they wear any item labeled for women. However the visa-versa is no longer part of this understanding, for this same biased standard has given women the freedom to choose whatever attiring item they want to add to their wardrobe which includes items from men's apparel. Obviously, men and women do have the similar desires and the traditional attitudes towards men wearing women's apparel becoming women is a modern superstitious tale predicated on baseless facts, otherwise women would have achieved manhood long ago.

I think that there are many social things in the world, and you have noticed one of them, I think that many people simplify things to much, biology creates so many diverse people, I really do not understand why people make narrow categories and try to put everyone in them.
I wish you good luck, and I will not mind a guy wearing high heels,
it is all the years of social programming that says it is bad - that is going to be the real challenge for a guy to wear heels.

Why would you want to. They are very uncomfortable and take years of practice to walk in. My high heels are my sitting shoes and not my walking shoes. Most men can barely walk in tennis shoes.
Women wear high heels because it makes our legs look long and lean, this is not necessarily a desirable trait for men who generally want strong muscular legs. Women also wear heels because men like them, if you want to attract a man then go ahead and wear heels. Who know maybe you already own a pair.
Men should wear high heels, we all need more laughs in life. A man attempting to walk in high heels would certainly make me laugh. As the transvestite comedian Eddie Izzard puts it if you are a man and you fall over in heels you have to kill yourself.
It is a free society and if wearing high heels make you feel good then wear them. Just be aware they are really hard to walk in and will take some practice.

Hey wear what you want.
I will bet after walking around in 3-4 inch heels all day you won't want to wear them anymore. Cramped toes and sore feet should be enough to disuade anyone. But for some sick reason I still like to wear them. They make my legs look good and I feel sexy, My feet hurt and I couldn't run if I wanted to and as for protection maybe if I took my shoes off and threw them otherwise they make me an easy target cuz I sure as hell ain't going anywhere fast. But WTF I look good getting there.

High heels were originally designed by men, to be worn by men. They were a male fashion statement back in the 1500's. I suppose you could revive the look....

Women wear trousers so they cant comment about men in heels.
Maybe its something that will happen more frequently in years to come. It will only take a couple of male models to wear heels and more men will start to follow. It is something women are already starting to accept and you will note from some of the replies...

Men tend to be taller so they don't need the added height. They tend to have better posture from sporting activities so no need for the heels in that area. They tend NOT to want to walk with a seductive sway, which high heels tend to cause. Need I say more?
