I say good...only b/c I know what stuation you are talking about, and I trust you. I probably wouldnt normally agree with many of your other theories but I know you well enough to know your outlook on wildlife and survival...I trust you...so I vote GOOD.

good thing. It is in pain and needs to be put down. Also, with broken limbs it is an easy target and will easily be killed and eaten. Wild rabbits are hard to keep as pets because they are so skiddish. you could kill it just from the stress of keeping it, so kill it.

I think the best thing to do with an injured wild animal is take it to a local vet. If a vet can't operate on it because of cost, time, or knowledge of that animal, they can sometimes transfer it to a vet or animal sanctuary that will. Most places will do this free of charge because the animal is wild.
I would suggest that you try bringing it to a vet or animal sanctuary; please do not try to put the animal down yourself, you might cause it even more pain before it passes. Allow a vet to do this.

I think so, unless you are kind enough to heal him through a vet and pay the bills. I am a mad animal lover (as is bf) we saw a lorikeet on the road that had been hit. I freaked out and made him stop.. I cant tell you how i felt sitting in the car while he drove over it ..again and again.... I was absolutely mortified.. He said hes putting it out of its misery.he didnt enjoy it either. (personally i would have found a vet) but we didnt know the area and he felt this was kind. I know it prob was good tokill it, but it was torture for me ..& bird..and i still think about it.

If you have broken legs, I don't think you would be fast enough to catch a rabbit. Even if your legs were healthy, you would have a hard time catching it.
Is the rabbit in a cage? That would make it easier for you.
Good luck

my thoughts: the thing about people is we like to project our emotions on other animals.
there are some animals that are altruistic enough to care for sick/injured "family" members. but typically, if an individual animal can't fend for itself...that's pretty much nature's death sentence.
luckily, for pet animals, when they're injured they can "rely" on their human for care. so, just my opinion, if you are a pet owner you are obligated to take care of your pet...bring your rabbit to a vet, ask the vet's opinion--take that opinion into consideration when you decide how to deal with your lame (as in broken-legged) rabbit.

That's a dilemma. If a vet isn't an option then euthanising it might be a good choice. I love animals but if they're suffering I'd rather they just felt no pain instead.

If your goal is to minimize suffering, just give the rabbit an overdose of tranquilizers.
If you let it go, it will either starve to death or be eaten by a cat or another predator. Either way, it's more painful than death by tranquilizer.

Think..if you had broken legs & someone not let you live. Killed with pain...Give it some medicine or take it to the veterinarian & let it live. It will be okay. If you're killing, your commiting a crime which has no punishment.

Put it out of it's misery or give it some Vicoden. He'll die anyway so you might as well.
The real question is how are you gonna do it?
