Do you make the jokes anyway?
And these are tragic things that have nothing to do with you.
Stuff like this happens to me, but I usually don't make the jokes around certain people. Only the people who laugh at every joke that comes from my mouth, people who appreciate humor...

Of course, it's schadenfreude (happiness at the misfortune of others), everyone has it to some extent! Depending on who my company is, I'll either share the joke, or save it for later when I'm with people I know will appreciate it and not get offended.
I have to say that I find shocking and offensive things funny most of the time... But I try to remember that not everyone does.

That's human nature. I rarely make up jokes, just repeat them such as the space shuttle disaster."What color were the female astronaut's eyes?"

PS I forgot. When the Tsunami occurred at Christmas I made up the story that Father Christmas was late so just gave everybody a great big wave.

After the explosion of the Space shuttle Challenger their were several joke's told. When Columbia Brock up I thought of the same joke's and repeated one.

It is said to be a coping mechanism. It does seem kind of morbid, but laughter really is the best medicine.

Humor is one thing - finding pleasure in someone's suffering is never funny! Unless the suffering person never hears your laughing - then it IS funny!
