Ok, I'm a 16 year old female, and its been two years since I had my first period, and I wanted to know which is more comftorable, a pad or tampon? because, I've been using a pad for two years now, but i hate it when my underwear isn't tight enough, and the pad will sometimes go on a side, and then the blood will go on my underwear, and pants, its so gross! So, I was wondering if a tampon is more cleaner to use. and if a tampon is better, how exactly do you use it? I mean like where do you insert it and stuff?
Thanks, for everything :-)

Well to me a pad feels like a diaper. Tampons feel awhole lot better plus they are not as messy as pads. Hoped I answered your question good enough.

That's a good question. I'm 33, and I have always had trouble inserting tampons, so I always use pads. However, as you have already mentioned, pads don't always stay in place and accidents sometimes happen. Some women find tampons comfortable and convenient. Also, the nice thing about tampons is that you can go swimming wearing them!:)

Tampon you don't feel once you insert it so it is muchhhhh better. You insert it into your vagina. Print out a diagram of the female anatomy and then take a hand mirror and identify all of your own body parts. To use a tampon you insert it into the vagina at a slight angle towards the small of your back. You then push the bottom part into the top portion and that is what puts the tampon in place,. It does not hurt to use one and if you put it in properly you can't feel it. If you have heavy periods you may need to use a super absorbency tampon when your flow is heavy but otherwise a regular is fine.

If it's inserted correctly, not only is a tampon comfortable, you can't even feel it. It's worlds better than a pad!
Every box comes with instructions for inserting them, including pictures so you can't really go wrong. Tampax has loads of info for you at www.tampax.com. I'd recommend against the ones without an applicator, at least at first. Look for a brand with a rounded tip to make it easier to insert. Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. I'd never go back to pads (except to sleep.)

Well the pad is more safe in health wise. If you were to use tampons there are other issues with it. You can be prone to TSS which is tampon shock syndrome, not ver pleasant.
The tampon is inserted in your vagina and trust me its a messy job to do. If you bleed a lot then you have to change often.
My personal idea would be pad all the way.
take care

I started using tampons at 15, and learned how much better they are than pads. Pads always felt like diapers to me, and I always felt gross. Also, what used to feel really gross was when I could tell I was bleeding.
But tampons you can barely feel once you get used to them. Not to mention, they make a lot less noise than pads when you're changing them!
In my opinion, they just make life easier.
There are instructions for inserting them in a little booklet in every box (of tampax at least) - just follow them. And don't worry - they don't hurt.
Good luck!

i think tampons are better because you dont get that diaper feeling and the best tampons are the plastic appilicators like tampax pearl but you do have to make sure you get the right absorbancy for your period or you will find yourself changing you tampon like every hour but i prefer tampons over pad definatly

Sweetie, I think you should speak to your mother, or sister, or close family friend about this sort of thing. A tampon is more comfortable and alot less messy, but you'll have to have someone show you how to use it. Maybe talk to a friend at school or your school nurse.
