It is hardly ever done in track and field, but once in a very blue
moon there is the 1 hour decathlon for men / or pentathlon for women.
Basically you have to do all the events within the hour, in whatever order you want. Just get 10 valid results.
You obviously end with the 1500 or 800 meters, or you'll be to tired to perform well in the other events.
I believe Dan o' Brien still holds the ( unofficial ) world record.
I am not even sure women have ever done this.

lets start with breaking a 3:40 mile. Anyway, any record is something not commonly seen. Or a specific person who isn't that well known beating someone who is, like the Oregon club runner beating the Russian Olympic Gold medalist in the 800 at the Prefontaine Classic or a white person beating an Ethiopian or Kenyan at any distance 5000m and up.

I suppose any outstanding record breaking performance would be amazing. For example breaking the 4 minute barrier in the mile (Roger Bannister) or Bob Beamon's 29'+ long jump.
Can you imagine the amazement of the spectators to see for the first time :
Brian Oldfield put the shot with a spin; Dick Fosbury soaring over the high jump bar backwards; Abebe Bikila winning world class marathons barefooted; Michael Johnson straight-up/vertical sprint running style (200M in 19.6 sec.) or an American Javelin champion (forgot his name) who landed on his stomach every time he threw.
Is this what you had in mind?
If you want to amaze people any other way, be careful, there are restrictions concerning wearing jewelry and color/style of uniform. Dave Wottle won the 800M in the 1972 olympics wearing a golf hat ; you wouldn't get away with this in H.S. competition. Other "amazing things" may lead to a DQ./unsportsmanlike conduct. Consider amazing people by just being a good athlete.

Judging from your screen name, a fashion statement might be right up your alley. Unfortunately, if you are not a good athlete to begin with, you will just look foolish...
But, If you are interested, check out some of the pix on Florence Griffith-Joiner's official web site. Whatever else might be said about Flo-Jo, she had STYLE!
